The story of ‘one day’ of 49 young people who leave their homes in the morning for education. An effort to understand and convey their world from their viewpoint. The main actors of the project are these young people who tell us the story of their school/work day using their cameras. They convey their own world to us, using the skills they acquired at the 6-week photography workshops they attended. When do they leave home? Which vehicles do they use for transport? Where do they enjoy spending time? What do they like? What do they want to change?
The majority of the photographs and videos displayed are the products of the work done in the photography workshops. Other videos, illustrations, animations, infographics and installations are visualizations of the information gathered from the interviews and surveys conducted with the students and apperentices.
Departing from the view that school and craft workshops are two important channels of education, a day spent by students at school and apprentices at the workshops they learn their craft were observed simultaneously. Where do these two different types of education intersect/converge? At which points do they differentiate? How much are craft, production and creativity part of the current educational system? How can an educational model comprising both be constructed? These were a few of the questions this project sought answers for.
